Yesterday, Ryan told you about what looked to be an early glimpse of the third map pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops. Although clearly in “rumor” territory, the artwork on the leaked image very clearly resembled that of similarly leaked (and later confirmed to be accurate) artwork for the game’s second map pack, Escalation. A little more poking on the Internet even came up with a release date, June 28, which seems awfully soon when you consider that the previous two DLC packs came out roughly a month after they were announced.

What a surprise then that Activision has confirmed the coming of the Annihilation map pack with a press release listing the launch date as June 28. The information that slipped out yesterday is indeed accurate, and our four new multiplayer maps will be called Hangar 18, Drive-In, Silo and Hazard. The new zombie map, which went unnamed in yesterday’s image, has been confirmed to be called Shangri-La. No price is listed, but you can almost certainly expect it to fall at 1200 MS Points (also known as $15).

The pack will arrive on Xbox Live first, as part of Activision’s ongoing partnership with Microsoft. The release of the map pack will be accompanied by a double XP weekend, starting July 1. No word on the PC or PlayStation 3 release, as has become the standard, but you can probably start expecting to hear more information on other versions a month or so after the initial release.

The press release offers little in the detail beyond a statement from Treyarch studio head Mark Lamia that is specific to the new zombies map: “Players will also enjoy an all-new Zombies experience, Shangri-La, an exotic and mysterious map filled with deadly traps, dark secrets and innovative gameplay that will challenge even the most daring Zombie hunters.”

Sounds awesome. Probably not the moonbase setting that some fans have been expecting, but any excuse to grind up more zombies with a death machine is a good thing indeed. Let the speculation begin now on new boss zombies and weapons!

Call of Duty: Warzone Rebirth Island tips for Season 5 Reloaded
call of duty warzone how to level up weapons fast rebirth

Call of Duty: Warzone's Rebirth Island was implemented in December 2020 as part of the Black Ops Cold War integration. This additional map is a lot smaller than Verdansk or Caldera and plays differently, with more fast-paced action that often results in riskier playstyles. Matches last around 10 to 20 minutes, and things get hectic as soon as you touch the ground.

One of its main differences, aside from the size of the map, is that you're able to respawn as long as at least one of your team members is alive. There's a lot of nuance to how this works, and it forces you to be strategic when approaching certain situations. Now, as of the Season 5 Reloaded update, the small-scale map has undergone a substantial number of changes.

How to level up your weapons fast in Call of Duty: Warzone
Character with gas mask holding weapon in Warzone.

Weapon customization is at the heart of the Call of Duty: Warzone experience, and following the integrations of Black Ops Cold War and Vanguard, you have even more firearms at your disposal — over 150 as of September 2022. Each weapon has a laundry list of attachments that can be unlocked by earning Weapon XP, but if you're a new player or someone who just wants to make progress quickly, it can be tough to level up your guns — especially if you only own Warzone. Some weapons are hard to use, and that's even more true for firearms with no attachments (or the wrong attachments), making it challenging to actually gain progression with them.

The best Call of Duty: Warzone LAPA loadouts
Character with LAPA from Call of Duty: Warzone.

The latest weapon added to Call of Duty: Warzone is the LAPA, an SMG that was initially included as part of the game's Halloween 2021 event. It's a decent enough weapon that deals high amounts of critical damage and even works well at mid-range. However, as with most of the game's weapons, there are several different ways to build the LAPA, so you'll need to be aware of its strengths and weaknesses when trying it out.

Here, we'll dive into the three best LAPA loadouts for various playstyles, from close range to all-around. These are the best LAPA builds in Warzone.
