Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag has been revealed! And we will have info next week

Assassins Creed IVThere is a lot we can’t actually say about the new Assassin’s Creed game. As you can see from the graphic above, the name of the game will be Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, and the assassin will be a pirate of sorts – an assertion backed up by the game’s subtitle (not to mention several leaks that have been floating around the internet all week). Beyond that though, we can’t tell you anymore – at least not yet.

If you have been scanning the internet for news about the new Assassin’s Creed title, then you’ve probably heard other media outlets discuss the NDA that many of us are currently under regarding the game. Penny Arcade’s Ben Kuchera wrote a great editorial about the nature of embargoes and NDAs, and Kotaku’s Stephen Totilo also discussed the fine line between honoring embargoes and keeping readers informed.

So basically, there is plenty more news to come, specifically on Monday at 9am PST when our embargo lifts and we can fill you all in on what we know, including details of the new assassin, the exact time frame, and exactly where the game takes place. We will also discuss gameplay that was highlighted, including a few new mechanics for the series.

For now though, enjoy the image above. Stare at it. Make your guesses. We’ll have more on Monday once Ubisoft’s legal team removes the sniper dots from our heads. Metaphorically speaking of course (please help us!).
