One of the first tips and tricks Avowed teaches the player is that they are not limited to any specific weapon or armor. Because there are no classes, you can unlock any abilities you want and combine them with your favorite weapons and armor types. That's all well and good, but you still need to upgrade your gear with materials to keep them effective as you get further into the game. All materials can be found while exploring, but you can also craft your basic materials into better ones if you know how.

How to craft materials in Avowed

Just like upgrading your gear, crafting will also be done while at camp. While you can break down equipment wherever you want to get more materials, you sadly cant combine them out in the field.

Step 1: Fast travel to a campsite.

Step 2: Visit the workbench and interact with it.

Step 3: Go from the Upgrade tab to the Crafting tab at the top of the screen.

Step 4: You will see a list of craftable materials on the left and what is required to make them. You can turn multiple lower-grade materials into better ones this way, making it valuable to continue grabbing them later in the game.

It costs nothing but the materials used to craft, so don't worry about losing gold or anything else. Higher level materials do get harder to come by so crafting them will be necessary to quickly upgrade your best gear without spending a ton of time running around looking for materials.

How to use Discord on PS5
Discord gaming key art.

As it was the go-to voice and text-chat platform for gamers the world over, it was rather surprising how long it took Sony to add Discord integration for the PlayStation 5. Initially, there wasn't a native Discord app you could use on the console; however, an update made it far easier to chat with friends straight from your console while you're playing the best PS5 games.

Avowed’s release date remains under wraps after the Xbox Games Showcase
A masked figure in Avowed. The mask looks like it's made of gold, it has glowing red eyes, and there's a hood over its head.

The latest RPG from Obsidian Entertainment, Avowed, showed up at the Xbox Games Showcase with a new trailer but without a release date.

After a showing at the Developer Direct earlier in the year, Avowed hit the Xbox Games Showcase stage to show off a new trailer highlighting the story of the Living Lands, but not when players can expect to visit them. Your character is tasked by the Emperor to find the source of what is called the "Dream Scourge" and find a way to resolve it. Of course, things don't seem to be as black-and-white as that, and others believe there is another cause for what is happening on that remote island. Yet another voice tries to convince you both are deciding you. It will be up to you to decide whose side you take.
