Last year’s Bethesda E3 press conference was a pleasant surprise, offering an extended look at high-profile games like Fallout 4 and Doom, the immediate release of Fallout Shelter, and a Dishonored 2 announcement. The show also saw the return of former X-Play hosts Adam Sessler and Morgan Webb, and it appears that the publisher is hoping lightning can strike twice — but this time, they’re bringing along something a little louder.
E3 2016: How to watch all the E3 2016 press conferences
As with last year, Sessler and Webb will host the press conference, where they’ll kick off the evening and introduce developers showing off new games. After the conference, which begins at 10 p.m. ET, is over, they’ll host a post-show event, which will feature “exclusive interviews” with developers.
While Webb has remained fairly quiet following last year’s show, Adam Sessler has been bringing publicity to a Friday the 13th video game, which cleared a $700,000 funding goal on Kickstarter in October. The game will be a “1-on-7” asymmetric multiplayer experience, which sounds like the only way to do the franchise justice.
Given how recently Doom and Fallout 4 released, we’d be surprised to see anything from either Id or Bethesda Game Studios at the show, apart from the rumored Skyrim remaster. Do expect to see gameplay of Dishonored 2, however, and a full follow-up to Wolfenstein: The New Order is very likely to be announced; actress Alicja Bachleda-Curus let the news slip during an interview last September.
At midnight Eastern, the announcements and demos will be followed by a Blink-182 performance. The band is no stranger to gaming conventions, having previously performed at BlizzCon in 2013. Alkaline Trio’s Matt Skiba replaced longtime co-frontman Tom Delonge last year, and Blink’s new album, California, is scheduled to be released a few weeks later, with a summer headlining tour to follow.
