Edmund McMillen and Florian Himsl’s wonderful roguelike The Binding of Isaac Rebirth is set to make its PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita debut on November 4, 2014, publisher Nicalis confirms. It’s also coming to Linux, Mac, and Windows via Steam on the same day. Just make sure you don’t confuse Rebirth with The Binding of Isaac (sans “Rebirth”), which was released in 2011 for Linux, Mac, and Windows.
Rebirth is a full-on reboot, and a significant one. More enemies, more playable characters, more gear, more upgrade possibilities, cooperative play, and — according to the press announcement — “rooms FULL OF POOP!” That’s why it’s being treated as a brand new game on the PC side. You can find all sorts of info about what sets Rebirth apart from its predecessor in a FAQ on the game’s official website.
