As a little post-E3 dessert this past weekend, eager PlayStation 4 owners were given the opportunity to get some early play in on an alpha test of Bungie’s upcoming shooter, Destiny. That was all supposed to end at 12:01am this morning, but much to our surprise and delight, a little bird fluttered by at 12am bearing interesting news:

There's a rumor that the #Destiny Alpha might be extended to allow dangerous experiments. Play beyond the official close at your own risk!

— Bungie (@Bungie) June 16, 2014

That’s right: you can keep playing for now. The scope of the alpha remains limited to just 8 levels and a handful of areas, but if you wanted to take a crack at another class and some new skills, now is your chance to get it in. Don’t get too attached, because nothing will carry over into the beta once the lights go off on the alpha, and it could all come crashing down at any time. Instead, enter battle like samurai, liberated into potential greatness by your acceptance of inevitable death.

Bungie followed up with another tweet later in the morning, confirming that the alpha was still up and clarifying a bit what those “dangerous experiments” might be:

Yup. Alpha still works. Now, we're gonna test it in expert mode. If you're still playing, pardon our dust. This is for the Beta!

It seems like they are upping the difficulty as the alpha goes on, so stay frosty out there, guardians!

I used to be what you might call a Destiny addict. Back in the mid-2010s, I was all-in on the first Destiny game, practically playing it daily. I had a dedicated crew I ran raids with, chased the highest-level gear I could find, and competed in the Crucible like it was a job. I clocked over 400 hours playing the game over the course of a few years, and when Destiny 2 came out in 2017, I started on that same path.

But life changed. My free time became more scarce as I got older and the idea of spending all my time on one game became unrealistic. I had other things I wanted to play and it no longer made sense to keep up with an MMO where the grind was always climbing. I still checked out every major expansion, playing through any new story content, but I began to feel like I wasn’t getting a fulfilling experience if I ignored the grind.

In a company interview with CEO Yves Guillemot posted on the Ubisoft website Thursday, the executive reveals that there are remakes of Assassin's Creed games in the works, although he doesn't specify which ones.

"Players can be excited about some remakes, which will allow us to revisit some of the games we've created in the past and modernize them," he says, implying that it could pertain to games made before Odyssey. "There are worlds in some of our older Assassin's Creed games that are still extremely rich."
