Capcom and Namco to Release Street Fighter vs Tekken Games

Last week at ComicCon, Capcom surprised its fans by announcing that a new project with rival publisher Namco was underway. A new game will incorporate the two biggest fighting franchises in the world, with bragging rights up for grabs.  There will be two games released, one of which Street Fighter X Tekken, will incorporate the franchises by bringing Tekken into the Street Fighter world, in terms of gameplay, while Tekken X Street Fighter will bring Street Fighter characters into the Tekken style of play.  No word yet on when the games might hit the consoles, but mid to late 2011 at the earliest seems likely.

This will mark the second fighting collaboration between the publishers following 2005’s Namco X Capcom. Capcom has done well with this style of partnership. SNK vs. Capcom and Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars both were hits, and the Marvel vs. Capcom fighting series are best-sellers. A third entry, Marvel Vs. Capcom: Fate of Two Worlds is due out in spring of 2011.

Beyond the short trailer, details are still few and far between on this game. LA News Monitor is reporting that the game will present two separate takes on the game, one from the Street Fighter point of view, the other from the Tekken side. How that plays out won’t become clear for quite awhile. The game will be released on PS3 and Xbox 360.

A player stands in Metro City's Times Square equivalent in Street Fighter 6 World Tour.

Of all the new things introduced in Street Fighter 6, from the World Tour mode to creating your own custom character, no one would likely predict that there would also be a bond system typically found in RPGs. Each of the 18 fighters included at launch is in the World Tour mode as masters with whom you can train to learn their moves for your avatar. Unlike in real life, becoming better friends with someone is very simple, and you will get rewarded for it too! While you will build some Bond Points through traditional means with some masters, such as leveling up and completing missions, giving them presents is the fastest way to these fighters' hearts. If you're like us and have no idea what a big green beast-man or yoga master would even like as a present, here's a complete guide on the best gifts to give each master in Street Fighter 6.
How gifts work

Gifts come in two types in Street Fighter 6 when given to a master. They will either be worth 2 Bond Points or 5 if they are that master's favorite gift. If using nothing but gifts, then you will either need to dump 50 normal gifts on each character or as many as 20 of their favorites.
