Crytek’s Ryse, a first-person action game set during the time of the Roman Empire, is confirmed now as an exclusive release for Microsoft’s next-gen Xbox One console. The game appeared at crytek.com/games/ryse with the Latin words “Filius Romae venit” – roughly translates to “the son came to Rome” – appearing with a countdown timer ticking down toward Microsoft’s E3 press conference on June 10, 2013.

“Fight as a soldier. Lead as a general. Rise as a legend,” the official site teases.

Ryse appeared at E3 2010 and again at E3 2011 as an Xbox 360 exclusive that took full advantage of Kinect. Now an Xbox One exclusive, the new Ryse features “controller-based gameplay enhanced by Kinect.” With a controller and the new, superior Kinect in the mix, the Ryse of E3 2013 could be a very different game than the one that’s been popping up year after year. Or it could slip into obscurity yet again.

Microsoft said during the Xbox One announcement on May 21 that it has 15 exclusive titles in the works for the next-gen console, and now we know that Ryse is one of them. Expect more as E3 approaches.
