New Deathloop release date spotted on the PlayStation Store

PlayStation 5 timed console exclusive Deathloop appears to have a new release date. The PlayStation Store now lists a May release date for the game and details a deluxe edition.

According to the listing, Deathloop will now arrive on May 21. Originally set to release in 2020, the game was recently delayed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Developer Arkane Studios previously said that it aimed to get the game out in the second quarter of 2021, so the May date lines up with that plan.

The game is a timed console exclusive for the PlayStation 5, despite Microsoft’s recent acquisition of publisher Bethesda. Shortly following the news of the acquisition, Xbox Vice-President of Gaming Phil Spencer said that Microsoft would honor Bethesda’s current exclusivity deals.

Deathloop will release on PC as well, but online retailers like Steam are not showing the updated release date at present. It’s unclear if the game will still be available on digital storefronts considering that it’s likely come to Xbox Game Pass for PC as part of Microsoft’s acquisition.

Pre-orders for the game are now live on the PlayStation Store. In addition to the $60 standard edition, the PS Store now lists an $80 deluxe edition of the game, which comes with a host of digital extras. Players will receive three weapons, two skins, and a digital soundtrack of the game.

Neither Bethesda or Arkane Studios have confirmed the release date, though both accounts have tweeted congratulations to Sony for today’s PlayStation 5 launch. Bethesda’s celebratory tweet only reaffirms that Deathloop will release on the console sometime next year.

State of Decay 3 zombie.

During the June 2024 Xbox Games Showcase, Undead Labs showed off a new trailer for State of Decay 3. While the trailer didn't reveal a release date, it did show some new gameplay. The studio also has a new logo, representing its transition from being an indie studio to an Xbox one.

The trailer shows a desolate world filled with zombies and third-person shooter gameplay. The atmosphere feels much more fantastical and supernatural with its red hues, and is akin to Redfall rather than games with a more realistic tone like The Last of Us or Days Gone.
