As promised, Codemasters released a mobile version of its latest Formula One racing game, F1 2016.

Now, the official video game of the 2016 FIA Formula One World Championship can be played on tvOS, iOS, and Android devices — sorry Windows Mobile users, you are out of luck.

Like its console and desktop counterpart, the mobile version of F1 2016 features the full roster of 2016 Formula One drivers, as well as all 21 circuits used throughout this season.

F1 2016 offers six different racing modes: Time Trial, Weekly Event, Season, Quick Race, and Custom Season. Live multiplayer is not available and there is no word on whether or not it will become available, but for now you will be stuck battling against AI drivers on the circuits.

As is to be expected, the controls in the mobile version of F1 2016 are dramatically simplified with four different control schemes. Two of the setups use a combination of on-screen controls and your smartphone’s accelerometer for controlling steering, while the other two use only on-screen controls. The tvOS version of the game uses slightly different controls, but for the most part keeps consistent with the iOS and Android versions.

On compatible devices, F1 2016 offers haptic feedback and stereo audio to create an immersive on-the-go experience.

Rather than utilizing a freemium model for pricing, Codemasters has made F1 2016 an outright purchase. For $10, you have access to every feature in the game. This makes it a heavy up-front investment, especially if you already own the game for a console or desktop computer, but it prevents the small microtransactions that might end up costing more in the long run.

Head on over to the iOS App Store or Google Play Store to take your favorite Formula One car for a spin around any of the 21 circuits available.

Ubisoft confirms Assassin’s Creed remakes are in the works
Basim perched on a ledge overlooking Baghdad

In a company interview with CEO Yves Guillemot posted on the Ubisoft website Thursday, the executive reveals that there are remakes of Assassin's Creed games in the works, although he doesn't specify which ones.

"Players can be excited about some remakes, which will allow us to revisit some of the games we've created in the past and modernize them," he says, implying that it could pertain to games made before Odyssey. "There are worlds in some of our older Assassin's Creed games that are still extremely rich."

Surfaced patent shows what an Xbox streaming console would’ve looked like
An Xbox Series X sits next to both Series S models.

There have been a few Xbox devices that have never come to fruition, one of which was Keystone, a prototype for an affordable game streaming device you could hook up to your TV or monitor. Thanks to a surfaced patent, we've gotten an even closer look at what it would've potentially looked like.

The patent, first spotted by Windows Central, gives us a more complete view of the device. We've previously seen the Keystone in the flesh. Microsoft Gaming head Phil Spencer is known for hiding teases and interesting collectibles on the shelf in his office. In a 2022 X (formerly Twitter) post congratulating Bethesda on Fallout's 25th anniversary, you can see a small white device on the top shelf that's actually a Keystone prototype. Xbox told Digital Trends that it was a version of the device made before it decided to "refocus our efforts on a new approach.”
