Following up on Wednesday’s announcement of a new Need for Speed title that will be appearing on the Nintendo Wii, Logitech today bounced off hype for the new game to announce the first force feedback wheel for the Wii, developed especially for Need for Speed:Undercover.
The Speed Force Wireless will, as its title suggests, be a wireless one-piece steering wheel unit that yanks itself around and rumbles using input from racing games. Controls for the gas and brake are located directly on the wheel, eliminating the need for separate pedals that must be used at a table or desk. Logitech also kept the Wii’s familiar directional button and other Wiimote controls on the face of the wheel, making it easier to navigate menus.
Setup should be as easy as connecting a 2.4GHz wireless USB receiver to the Wii, connecting the wheel’s power cable, and firing up a game. Logitech claims wireless range should be about 30 feet.
The Speed Force One Wireless will roll out in November with a suggested retail price of $100.
