Gears of War 3 has an official release date

Better late than never. Today Microsoft officially announced that Gears of War 3 is back on the “official” side, and a release date of September 20 has been locked in.

Gears of War 3 was originally planned for an April release, but after an announced delay, the title was pushed back to a vague Fall-ish timetable. The franchise is an important one for Microsoft, who has not been receiving quite the same level of exposure for their exclusive titles that the PS3 has, so expect a lot of hype around this title as the release date approaches.

The third game in the series promises to be the end of this particular trilogy, although the series may (and probably will) continue beyond, but with a new story arc. The game will begin eighteen months after the conclusion of the previous title, with the survivors living on an island aboard a converted aircraft carrier. The imulsion continues to spread, and vast numbers of Locust have become the Lambent, a new threat to both the Gears and the surviving members of the Locust race.

The game will also feature a hefty online side, as well as co-op. It will be released as an Xbox 360 exclusive on September 20.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle: release date window, trailers, gameplay, and more
Indiana Jones standing in the jungle.

Grab your fedora, whip, and pistol because Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is plotting a course to consoles soon. After being announced via a small teaser in 2021, we're now finally starting to put the pieces together on the mystery that is this new title from MachineGames. While many very popular and successful games have been inspired by the Indiana Jones film franchise, including Uncharted and Tomb Raider, Indy himself has yet to star in a true action-adventure game worthy of his legacy. Will this game be the one to remind audiences who the true pioneer of set-piece action and globe-trotting puzzle-solving is? Only time will tell, but we can at least guess based on all the clues we've unearthed.
Release date window
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will be released is scheduled for release sometime in 2024. Considering the slate of titles currently announced from first-party publishers, and how little we've seen of this game in comparison, we'd expect it to arrive in the last few months of the year. Of course, it could always slip into next year as well.

Gears of War: E-Day is a prequel, not Gears 6
Gears of War E-Day cityscape Sera

During the June 2024 Xbox Games Showcase, The Coalition announced Gears of War: E-Day, a prequel to the Gears of War series. The game takes place 14 years before the start of the first game, and is built from the ground up with Unreal Engine 5. However, there is no release date, but it will presumably launch for PC and Xbox Series X/S.

The trailer starts with a protagonist Marcus Fenix as a younger man fighting against a big Locust enemy. When he barely manages to win, he gets pulled up by his friend, Dominic Santiago. The camera then pans out to show a city in ruins. Players are used to a seasoned veteran in Marcus, but E-Day explores a time when he and his comrades were ill-prepared for the Locust threat upon their home planet Sera.
