Season pass owners will see the return of the maps “Checkout” and “Drydock” on the “early access developer playlist” next Tuesday, November 1. During this period, the maps will only be available for the modes “Dodgeball” and “Arms Race.” The maps will make their way to all other players the following Tuesday, November 8.
“Checkout,” which takes place inside the electronics department of a supermarket, is described by game developer The Coalition as “fast” and “frenetic.” It’s located in the town of Hanover — where fan-favorite Cole was raised — during the events of Gears of War 4, and its overgrown aesthetic looks like something out of Crysis 2 or The Last of Us.
“Drydock,” meanwhile, more closely resembles Fallout 4. An industrial facility filled with broken beams and turning windmills looks like the perfect place for some marksmen to have a field day.
On November 1, Xbox will also be offering a sneak peek at Run the Jewels’ “Air Drop” — players will be able to acquire members Killer Mike and El-P as skins for the game.
Gears of War 4‘s multiplayer sees the game at its strongest, but if you’re interested in purchasing the season pass, it’s going to set you back a full $50. The pass includes “permanent DLC map ownership,” as well as vintage emblems, character skins, bounties, and a “starter air drop” that offers a collection of both consumable and non-consumable goodies for players just beginning their time with the game.
