Gears of War: More Than 3 Million Sold

Microsoft and Epic Games today announced that the Xbox 360 title action-shooter Gears of War has gone “triple platinum,” selling more than 3 million copies since the games’ introduction 10 weeks ago.

Gears of War is tracking to be one of the best-selling video games of all time and has established itself as the most successful new IP of the next generation,” said Jeff Bell, corporate vice president of Global Marketing for Microsoft’s Interactive Entertainment Business Entertainment and Devices Division, in a release.

Less than two weeks ago, two new multiplayer maps (“Raven Down” and “Old Bones”) were released on Microsoft’s Xbox Live online gaming service, and they’ve been greeted with wild enthusiasm by Gears of War players, who’ve pulled down the maps more than 750,000 times. So far, Xbox Live has served more than 1.5 million downloads of Gears of War content, including maps, themes, and a video walkthrough.

State of Decay 3: release date speculation, trailer, news, and more
A massive undead creature blocks the path of survivors in State of Decay 3,

While the world's zombie obsession isn't as prevalent as it was a few years ago, we're still set to see some serious undead action in the future. Undead Labs has a third entry in its State of Decay series in the works that will surely pit an eclectic cast of survivors against hordes of wandering undead as they try to rebuild in a brutal world. Each entry of the series so far has included action-adventure, survival-horror, stealth, role-playing, and strategy elements, blending genres into an interesting civilization-rebuilding, zombie-decapitating experience.

We still don't have a lot of details on what State of Decay 3 gameplay will look like, but we have a couple of fantastic trailers released. It's definitely one of our most anticipated upcoming Xbox Series X games. Here's everything we know about State of Decay 3 right now.

3 underrated PS Plus games you should play this weekend (May 3-5)
The main character of Tales of Kenzera: Zau stands with two elemental items.

PlayStation Plus Premium and Extra have been around for almost two years, and during that time the subscription service has established itself as an ample competitor to Xbox Game Pass. That means there is a wealth of great games for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 owners to check out if they're looking for something to play this weekend. I think PS Plus subscribers should be looking toward some of the more underrated games in the subscription service this weekend too.

I have three particular picks in mind. The first is an enjoyable Metroidvania that came to PS Plus' game catalog when it launched just a couple of weeks ago and deserves a lot more attention than it's getting. After that, there's an action-platformer that pays homage to series like Ninja Gaiden that you should check out before it leaves the catalog. Finally, there's a PS2-era Star Wars game that fills the niche a recently canceled game would have.
