There’s are six classic multiplayer maps reimagined and touched up in the all-encompassing package, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, and the fifth of those has been confirmed by developer 343 Industries to be Halo 2‘s Lockout.
The setting is an abandoned Forerunner laboratory in the snowy mountain regions of Halo Delta. It’s a relatively small, vertical space that splits across three levels accessible via jump pads. For the Master Chief Collection release, 343 injected a few elements to throw off the veterans and make the action feel a little more lively.
“We’re thrilled to be bringing this fan-favorite back, and are paying close attention to the details and subtleties that made the original great while also making a couple of very careful, very calculated enhancements,” Max Hoberman, president of the original Halo 2 dev (and 343 collaborator) A Certain Affinity, said in the announcement.

“Most prominent among these are a bit of cover added to the ‘Elbow,’ the long walkway connecting the grav lift to the sniper tower, and a dynamic element that should help counter an entrenched group of enemies. Of course this can be disabled in Forge for players who want a near-match of the original experience.”
Lockout is featured at Microsoft PAX Prime 2014 booth all weekend for fans to check out. 343 previously confirmed that classic maps Coagulation, Shrine, Zanzibar, and Zenith will also receive the remaster treatment. All of the maps come from Halo 2, which is unique among the Master Chief Collection‘s bundling of four numbered Halo games for getting the same Anniversary treatment that Halo: Combat Evolved received in 2011’s Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary.
