Halo: The Master Chief Collection players can grab a free nameplate in the game to celebrate Women’s History Month. The freebie is part of Microsoft’s monthlong commitment to empowering women in the gaming community.
The nameplate is a reference to Spartan Kat, a character who appeared in Halo: Reach. Players can log in to the game anytime this month to claim the free cosmetic.

Last month, 343 Studios held a similar giveaway for Black History Month. Players could log in and add a special nameplate to their armory to celebrate.
The Halo bonus is only one small piece of Microsoft’s wider Women’s History Month plans. Microsoft plans to follow a similar structure to last month’s Black History Month celebration, with livestreams, featured games starring women, and donation incentives through the Microsoft Rewards program. Players can donate their rewards points to organizations like Girls Who Code and Black Girls Rock! Microsoft says it will match those donations.
As for other in-game events, Age of Empires is one of the main focuses of Microsoft’s celebration. Players can participate in a Queens’ Clash tournament in Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition on March 12 and 13. The event is led by Age of Queens, a community of players led by women. The Age of Empires website and social channels will also highlight stories of real women throughout history during the month.
Xbox fans can also check out a selection of stories by ambassadors in the community, which discuss the experience of being a woman in the video game world.
