Highlights from the G2 ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops II’ tournament

The second annual Gfinity Call of Duty tournament was held in London, England earlier this week, and the American based competitive team Complexity has walked away with the $30,000 grand prize. Check out some of the highlights from the show in the video below and gallery above.

The event took place on October 12 and 13 and was watched by over 500 people in attendance, with hundreds of thousands more tuning in online via Major League Gaming according to Gfinity (exact viewership numbers have not been released yet, but are expected soon).

The event is the UK’s largest Call of Duty tournament, and featured 16 of the top ranked competitive CoD teams in the world. While the winners received $30,000, the full prize pot was $70,000 was awarded to multiple teams. Following the success of the G2 event, Gfinity and MLG will continue to work together, so expect a full schedule of events hosted by Gfinity and covered by MLG.

As for the competition itself, the event opened with a fairly major upset as Optic Gaming lost in the qualifying round. In the finals it came down to Complexity and UK based team Epsilon. Despite losing, Epsilon still walked away with $15,000 in prize money. Not a bad day, all things considered.

The event will likely serve as a warm-up for both teams who head to Florida for the MLG Fall Invitational, which takes place October 18 and 19. Along with a Dota 2 championship, the top four team in Call of Duty: Black Ops II will advance to compete for $15,000 in prizes. This will mark the final event in which MLG will feature Call of Duty: Black Ops II in competition; it will soon be replaced with the upcoming Call of Duty: Ghosts.

Five main characters from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II.

The Call of Duty franchise has been one of the biggest players in gaming for a while now, and if you grew up in the early 2000s, you're familiar with the iconic Modern Warfare campaigns. Well, the game's latest iteration is already a smash hit and a lot of fun, and if you want to pick it up for Xbox or PlayStation, Walmart has it discounted down to $55 from $70, which is great for a newly released game. That said, you better hurry and pick it up if you like it because we've already seen many Black Friday deals expire. It's also better not to wait for any Cyber Monday deals since we aren't sure if we'll even see a deal on Modern Warfare II, let alone one as good as this.

Why you should buy Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II
There are generally two ways to enjoy Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II: online multiplayer or the campaign. First, let's start with multiplayer, a significant improvement on the last entry into the series, with several new modes and excellent gunplay. There's also a lot of customization in guns, allowing a lot of fine-tuning that's new to the franchise, and since we want to start you off with an advantage, we've ranked every gun on Modern Warfare II. That's not the only new thing there, with some great new and upgraded Killstreaks and Perks for you to play around with. That said, the maps sometimes feel cluttered due to having tons of entry points, and a large number of alleyways and small places to navigate create many sightlines that are hard to keep up with.

The RAAL MG in Modern Warfare II.

When playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, it's best to come prepared with a powerful weapon that can take down opponents quickly. While there are a variety of weapons that fall into this category, currently, the best option is the RAAL MG, in terms of time to kill (TTK).
