In the Dark Ages of E3, individuals would have to suffer through shoddy live streams or wait until the actual video feed was uploaded to YouTube to catch the latest updates. Fortunately, now there are several ways to watch in real time as the news breaks. Bethesda — one of the most lauded developers currently in existence — will really have to outdo itself to follow up its inaugural conference at last year’s E3, which introduced modern audience to Fallout 4 and the recently-released Doom.
The highly anticipated release of Dishonored 2 is expected to headline the event, but does Bethesda have something up its sleeve? E3 2016 is the perfect platform for a big announcement.
How to watch
Bethesda’s press conference will take place on Sunday, June 12, at 7 p.m. PT. Early speculation is already abuzz surrounding regarding the event, which will likely feature Dishonored 2 as well as a few other undisclosed announcements. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One users will be able to live stream the entire event from their consoles. The official E3 YouTube channel, Live at E3, is also a handy way to catch Bethesda’s announcement, as is the company’s official Twitch channel.
What to expect
Dishonored 2
Bethesda announced earlier this year that the Dishonored sequel will be released on the Xbox One, PS4, and PC on November 11. That said, expect the company’s press event to include extensive gameplay footage and provide a closer look at the forthcoming title’s mechanics and playable characters.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Remaster
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was a landmark title upon its release in 2011, and if the swath of rumors circulating online are to be believed, Bethesda will likely unveil an updated version of the title for current-gen systems. This so-called “remaster” is said to include all of the game’s downloadable expansions, mod support, and improved graphics. As one could imagine, the remaster might also include new weaponry, armor, and enemies.
Prey 2, The Evil Within 2, and others
This is a total wildcard. Ever since Prey 2 was cancelled, the hearsay has been all over the the map surrounding the original first-person shooter. In 2014, it was announced that Prey 2 was dead due to quality issues; however, early buzz is pointing toward a potential surprise announcement from Bethesda. At this time, it’s also being widely speculated that the sequels to both Wolfenstein: the New Order and The Evil Within will both be announced at the conference. With hopeful fans propagating the rumor mill online, the hypotheticals are sure to swell in the coming days. Until the conference goes live this Sunday, however, it’s really anyone’s guess.
