A new launch trailer has emerged to get you excited about the imminent release of The Dark BelowDestiny‘s first major expansion, set for release on December 9. The trailer begins with the ominous narration of Eris, the expansion’s new quest giver. The sole survivor of a mission into the Moon’s Hellmouth, Eris serves as the primary hub for The Dark Below‘s new content, which is teased over the remainder of the trailer.

The Dark Below adds three new competitive maps to the Crucible, three story missions, a Strike, a raid, and a selection of new exotic gear. PlayStation users are also treated to a few additional, exclusive goodies, specifically a bonus Strike and a powerful, exotic shotgun. This exclusive content will eventually roll out to Xbox players as well, at some point in fall 2015 or later.

Launching December 9, The Dark Below is available for pre-order now, by itself for $20 or bundled with the next expansion, House of Wolves, as a season pass for $35.

Alone in the Dark: release date, trailers, gameplay, and more
A man shoots a zombie in Alone in the Dark.

Horror games have an interesting lineage. Most gamers' first real exposure to what we consider the template for "modern" horror was the original Resident Evil or, perhaps, Silent Hill. However, even those games had clear influences. One was a somewhat obscure Japanese game called Sweet Home, but in terms of 3D horror, Alone in the Dark was an experience like nothing else. Based on the unique cosmic horror writing of H.P. Lovecraft, this series, unfortunately, saw a fast fall from grace with the arrival of its sequels.

Despite a few leaks, most were still caught off guard by the announcement that Alone in the Dark would not only be coming back, but the new game would apparently be a reboot of the series that aims to take it back to its survival-horror roots. There are nearly as many mysteries surrounding the revival of this historic IP as there are in its narrative, but we've braved the dark corners of the internet to bring you everything we know about Alone in the Dark.

A character holds his hand out in Alone in the Dark.

THQ Nordic's Alone in the Dark reboot is launching just in time for Halloween. The psychological horror game will release on October 25 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. A free, playable prologue for the game is available to try right now.

Alone in the Dark is a reboot of the classic series of the same name, which began in 1992. While it's not a straight remake of the original, it does feature the series recurring characters, including Edward Carnby and Emily Hartwood. In the new game, those characters are voiced by Stranger Things' David Harbour and Killing Eve star Jodie Comer, respectively.

Aliens: Dark Descent: release date, trailers, gameplay, and more
Alien screaming close-up.

In space, no one can hear you scream. While the Alien franchise has been hit-and-miss when it comes to video games, the good ones have been great. Alien: Isolation is the most recent example of a game absolutely nailing the tone, atmosphere, and sense of dread of what it would be like to be trapped on a ship with the most dangerous hunter in the universe. Just like the jump from the first film to the second, though, our next Alien game to look forward to appears to be less about the horror and intends to mix in a healthy dose of action.

Aliens: Dark Descent is the newest game to drop us into the nests of the Xenomorphs. However, unlike most other games that used this license, it isn't a straight-up horror game, nor is it a first-person shooter.  This is one of the most beloved franchises in film history, so if you're at all curious about diving into Aliens: Dark Descent, we'll use our motion tracker to guide you along safely.
