Life is Strange - Out of Time Launch Trailer | PS4, PS3
Dontnod has released a trailer for the upcoming second episode of its episodic, teenage time travel adventure, Life is Strange, set to arrive on March 24.

Protagonist Max Caulfield is coming to terms with the time-rewinding power she mysteriously developed in the first episode. She is shown revealing her power to friend Chloe in a diner scene right out of Groundhog Day. Visions of the lighthouse and tornado still haunt her, and with Chloe’s help she sets out to investigate what’s happening to her and the town. Publisher Square Enix promises to expand the scope of the game’s world in episode 2.

“You will start to see much of your choices affecting the story in a lot of different ways, be prepared for some surprises! You will also discover new locations as Max will go outside of Blackwell Academy and start exploring new areas in Arcadia Bay. You’ll be able to learn more about the town, its inhabitants, and the social issues it’s facing. On top of this, new and important characters will be introduced, as well as having a lot of difficult choices to make.”

Episode 2 hits PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Windows on March 24. Individual episodes can be purchased for $5, or the entire, five-episode season can be bought as a bundle for $20.

5 JRPGs not from Square Enix deserve the HD-2D treatment
The cast of Ys V

The HD-2D style is a boon for Square Enix’s modern turn-based JRPGs. It takes retro 2D sprites and fits them into beautiful 3D environments with gorgeous special effects. Seeing realistic fire animations, reflections, and more alongside charming old-school pixel art really helps the games that utilize this style stand out from the crowd.

Octopath Traveler introduced JRPG fans to this style when it hit the Nintendo Switch in 2018 Since then, two more HD-2D games have been released: Triangle Strategy and Live a Live. Additionally, an HD-2D remake of Dragon Quest III is coming out in the future. Square Enix trademarked the HD-2D style back in 2019, which is a shame because there are so many great games from other developers that deserve this graphical treatment and can breathe new life into franchises.

The movie adopted a distinctly Raimi tone, bringing out some of the horror weirdness that's defined so much of the director's catalog. Some might understandably feel it's a much-needed shakeup to the typically safe Marvel formula, with horror fans surely finding something to love.

Video games are also a medium where developers can get noticeably inventive and bizarre with their worlds, and the action-adventure and survival-horror genres have certainly flexed those creative muscles. Recent years have seen delightfully strange gaming titles that, in some form or another, should strike similar tones that Multiverse of Madness does.
