May’s PlayStation Plus game lineup includes FIFA 22

May’s PlayStation Plus titles were announced today, bringing new game freebies to the soon-to-be-changing subscription. The titles include FIFA 22Tribes of Midgard, and Curse of the Dead Gods. Each of these titles is coming to the Plus hub on May 3 and will be free to download for members of the service.

FIFA 22 | Official Gameplay Trailer

FIFA 22 brings a new installment of EA Sports’ soccer (or football, depending on where you’re from) franchise to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 PS Plus members. Subscribers will also be able to download the FUT Pack for FIFA 22 Ultimate Team. The pack includes 11 additional players (rated 82 and up) that can be added to an Ultimate Team. Players can also access the Icon Moments Loan Player Pick, which allows them to pick some of the most iconic players in history.

Tribes of Midgard - Gameplay Overview | PS5

Tribes of Midgard, a co-op action role-playing game, is also coming to the service. The main draw of this title is the survival aspect, as players must work together (or alone in the single-player) to survive in the Norse mythology-inspired world. The game’s cooperative mode supports up to 10 players, making it a game best experienced as a group.

Curse of the Dead Gods - Gameplay Overview Trailer | PS4

Finally, there’s Curse of the Dead Gods, a roguelike that many have compared to a similar title, Hades. This dungeon crawler throws players into caves on a quest of finding hidden riches with dark magic at their side to help them survive. However, a Curse Meter adds a “risk versus reward” twist to its gameplay.

These three titles are set to hit the PlayStation Plus hub on May 3. Subscribers have until May 2 to go and download last month’s free Plus games, Hood: Outlaws & LegendsSpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom — Rehydrated,  and Slay the Spire.

Persona 5 is also leaving the PlayStation Plus Collection on May 11, 2022.

Grand Theft Auto 5 and 11 more games are leaving PS Plus in June
Trevor, Michael, and Franklin are all holding guns in GTA 5 promotional art.

PlayStation Plus users will be losing out on 12 games in June, and one of them is a must-play if you're a fan of open-world action adventures from 2013.

Grand Theft Auto 5 is widely considered to be one of the most iconic games all time, and it's definitely the best Grand Theft Auto game. It's also easy to play on nearly any platform (minus Nintendo Switch, of course). It even received a next-gen upgrade for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in 2022. That said, if you have a PlayStation Plus subscription and wanted to play it at some point -- or just wanted to get a session or two in before Grand Theft Auto 6 -- you'll have until June 12 to do so.

3 new PS Plus games to play this Memorial Day weekend (May 24-27)
Arthur Morgan in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Memorial Day is coming up, so you're probably wondering what games you should play on your PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5 over the holiday weekend. Lucky for you, a new batch of games were added to the PlayStation Plus Premium and Extra game catalog earlier this week, and it brought plenty of games well worth your time. Three in particular stand out to me; download them today and try them out over the next few days.

The first is a Western from Rockstar Games that needs little introduction and is a must-play if you haven't experienced it yet. The next is an open-world game that kick-started a new series for Ubisoft and turns 10 next week. Finally, a retro PlayStation 1 game that just came to PlayStation Plus Premium offers up a good time if you enjoy sports or racing games.

3 PS Plus free demos you should try this weekend (May 17-19)
Peter attacks enemies with the Symbiote Suit in Marvel's Spider-Man 2.

One of the most underrated features of PlayStation Plus Premium is the game trials that it offers. Although Sony does not put its AAA games on the service the day they release, it and several other third-party publishers offer up free demos that essentially give players full access to the game for a limited period of time. It's a great way to test a new game before you buy and it also gives you an excuse to try out a variety of different games this weekend without making the time commitment to beat them all. I looked through the full list of game trials that PlayStation Plus Premium offers and pinpointed three of the demos that are most worth your time.

The first is a two-hour demo for one of the PlayStation 5's biggest exclusives. The next will give you a two-hour taste of the latest fighting game in a long-running franchise. Finally, the one-hour trial of one of the year's best indies will get you hooked on the card-based roguelike that consumed my life for a bit.
