The rumor mill continues to churn for Project Natal, but this one comes with solid sources. Edge-Online is reporting that sources have told them that when Project Natal is released in October, it will cost $149. The same sources also claim that Microsoft will offer a bundle for $299 that includes an Xbox 360 Slim, a 250GB hard drive, and the Natal.
Of course, we have also heard rumors that the Natal will cost under $50 (which seems unlikely), and that the bundle will be an Xbox 360 Arcade version.
The source also claims that the release date will be October 26 (although the date is still flexible and could shift), which confirms earlier rumors we have been hearing about a late October worldwide release.
If the pricing is correct, it might put Microsoft at a disadvantage against Sony’s upcoming PlayStation Move, which is rumored to be shipping with a game for less than $100. But again, these reports are unconfirmed, and it is also not clear if the Natal will ship with a game or not. Expect to hear more about Natal- including pricing, official release date, package contents and the official name of Natal (Project Natal has always been a codename for the project, and was never intended to be the production name)- at this year’s E3.
