Revealed this summer at Minecon 2015, Minecraft: Story Mode is as unlikely a premise for a story-driven adventure game as you could imagine, but it also gives developer Telltale Games a creative freedom it hasn’t had until now. A holiday 2015 release date for the game would have been an easy guess, but it seems that it may be out even sooner.

Amazon listings for Minecraft: Story Mode have appeared, pointing to a possible release of the game next month. The listings for the Xbox One version of the game point to an October 27 release date in the U.S., followed by an October 30 release date in the U.K. At the time of this writing, Telltale has yet to announce an official release date for the game, though the company has said that the game would come out this fall.

Telltale recently announced that Minecraft: Story Mode would be the first game it has developed to feature a player-selectable main character with a customizable appearance. Previous games from the developer have featured plenty of playable characters, but these were playable at different points in the story, not whenever the player chose.

“We’ve worked closely with the amazing team at Mojang to ensure this story is a natural fit for the Minecraft world fans already know and love,” Telltale CEO Kevin Bruner said when the game was announced. “As Jesse, players will steer their own path through a tale of adventure and survival; all brought to life by an all-star cast.”

Bruner wasn’t exaggerating about the cast. The game will feature Patton Oswalt as male Jesse and Catherine Taber as female Jesse, plus voice acting from Brian Posehn, Ashley Johnson, Scott Porter, Martha Plimpton, Dave Fennoy, Corey Feldman, Billy West, and Paul Reubens, among others.

While Minecraft: Story Mode will also be available via digital download, the physical version of the game will feature the first episode on disc, granting access to the other four episodes once they’re released. Those with a console that isn’t connected to the Internet will be out of luck.

In addition to the Xbox One, Minecraft: Story Mode is also planned for release on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Wii U, PC/Mac, iOS and Android. Whether the game will arrive on all these platforms at the same time hasn’t yet been confirmed.

It made perfect sense for Mojang to bring a Minecraft game to smartphones, but fans probably weren't expecting the likes of Minecraft Earth. It's the company's first attempt at a mobile game in the Minecraft universe, but with an emphasis on AR (Augmented Reality), and walking around just like Pokémon GO. In it, you're encouraged to get up and go outside, with the goal of collecting items in order to build.

You won't be doing as much building as you would in the original Minecraft, instead focusing on exploration and resource management. You'll find that Minecraft Earth shares much of its DNA with the original, but offers enough of a change of pace to differentiate it and keep things fresh.

In a company interview with CEO Yves Guillemot posted on the Ubisoft website Thursday, the executive reveals that there are remakes of Assassin's Creed games in the works, although he doesn't specify which ones.

"Players can be excited about some remakes, which will allow us to revisit some of the games we've created in the past and modernize them," he says, implying that it could pertain to games made before Odyssey. "There are worlds in some of our older Assassin's Creed games that are still extremely rich."
