PlayStation TV, Sony’s answer to media streaming devices like Amazon Fire TV and Roku, will have nearly 700 games available to stream at its impending launch on October 14. These games will be playable through the accompanying PlayStation Now game streaming service, which has been in an open beta on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and select 4K televisions.
The extensive lineup of games available at launch ranges from PSOne classics like Metal Gear Solid, Twisted Metal, and Final Fantasy Tactics, to more recent PS3 and PS Vita hits like Dragon’s Crown, Borderlands 2, and Killzone: Mercenary. The service will initially stream games that originally launched on PS One, PS Vita, and PS3. Additionally, PS4 owners will be able to stream their gameplay over a wired internet connection to the PS TV via Remote Play.
When the PS TV goes on sale on October 14, it will be available starting at $100 for the standalone system, or for $140 bundled with a wireless Dualshock 3 controller, an 8GB memory card, and The Lego Movie Videogame. There will also be a limited edition bundle available at Walmart which includes everything above in addition to Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, also for $140.
