We may have just shy of two years to wait until the Warcraft movie hits theaters, but the first image from the set of the film found its way online this week.

The photo debuted in the latest issue of Empire magazine (via BuzzHub) and features Warcraft director Duncan Jones (Moon) seated in front of several monitors revealing some on-set activity. While there’s not a lot of action happening on the screens, the image does confirm that the project is indeed happening – something that seemed relatively uncertain at various points over the last few years of development on the film.

The Warcraft movie is currently filming in Vancouver, and the release date was previously pushed back from late 2015 to March 11, 2016. The announced cast thus far includes Ben Foster (Pandorum), Travis Fimmel (Vikings), Paula Patton (Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol), Toby Kebbell (Wrath of the Titans), Rob Kazinsky (Pacific Rim), Dominic Cooper (Captain America: The First Avenger), Daniel Wu (Europa Report), and Clancy Brown (The Shawshank Redemption), although the characters each actor will play have not been revealed.

During last year’s BlizzCon event, Jones indicated that the film will tell an “origin story” of the conflict between humans and orcs that forms the centerpiece of the popular franchise. Human character Anduin Lothar and orc Durotan, father of Thrall, will be the focal points for the film’s narrative. Jones hinted that Warcraft will explore the perspective on both sides of the historic conflict between the races.

When it does finally hit theaters the Warcraft movie will receive a 2D and 3D release. With two full convention seasons between now and the movie’s premiere, we can expect to see quite a few more teasers as we inch ever closer to March 2016.

Ubisoft confirms Assassin’s Creed remakes are in the works
Basim perched on a ledge overlooking Baghdad

In a company interview with CEO Yves Guillemot posted on the Ubisoft website Thursday, the executive reveals that there are remakes of Assassin's Creed games in the works, although he doesn't specify which ones.

"Players can be excited about some remakes, which will allow us to revisit some of the games we've created in the past and modernize them," he says, implying that it could pertain to games made before Odyssey. "There are worlds in some of our older Assassin's Creed games that are still extremely rich."

Surfaced patent shows what an Xbox streaming console would’ve looked like
An Xbox Series X sits next to both Series S models.

There have been a few Xbox devices that have never come to fruition, one of which was Keystone, a prototype for an affordable game streaming device you could hook up to your TV or monitor. Thanks to a surfaced patent, we've gotten an even closer look at what it would've potentially looked like.

The patent, first spotted by Windows Central, gives us a more complete view of the device. We've previously seen the Keystone in the flesh. Microsoft Gaming head Phil Spencer is known for hiding teases and interesting collectibles on the shelf in his office. In a 2022 X (formerly Twitter) post congratulating Bethesda on Fallout's 25th anniversary, you can see a small white device on the top shelf that's actually a Keystone prototype. Xbox told Digital Trends that it was a version of the device made before it decided to "refocus our efforts on a new approach.”
