If you’re a Call of Duty fan then you probably already know all about the Call of Duty Elite subscription service that will be launching later this year alongside Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Just to recap, it’s a rather broad social media-fication of the popular first-person shooter series. All Duty players will be able to access a detailed array of personal stats and link up with friends, while those who subscribe for an as-yet-undecided monthly fee will also have access to a few additional bonuses, such as clans and tournament play. As we learn today, they’ll also be able to keep up with an upcoming Call of Duty web series.

Activision hasn’t offered up much in the way of detail yet, but the Guardian reports via CEO Eric Hirshberg that the plan is to engage “top Hollywood talent to create linear content that will be exclusive to Elite members.” The plan for now is to simply plant the seeds, but not reveal anything substantive until there’s actually something to show. It remains unclear what form the series will take (i.e. live action, animation, etc.) and what types of talents Activision is looking to tap for the project.

While the actual service won’t be launching until November, alongside this year’s Call of Duty release, players will be able to get their first taste in a beta to be staged this summer. The beta will integrate with last year’s Call of Duty: Black Ops, but not to the extent that the full offering will with Modern Warfare 3 and those that follow it. The web content almost certainly won’t be a part of the beta, but hopefully we’ll hear more about it between now and then. If you’re interested in participating in the beta, there’s a sign-up page on the soon-to-launch service’s official website.

2023 set an incredibly high bar for video game sequels
A screenshot from The Story So Far in Marvel's Spider-Man 2.

It's not an overstatements to say that 2023 was one of the best years for video game sequels ever.

Simply looking at The Game Awards 2023’s Game of the Year nominations, all of which are titles from preexisting series, proves that. It’s not just that we received a lot of new video game sequels in 2023; that happens every year. No, what makes the game sequels of 2023 stand out is how many of them impressively build upon what came before. From Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 to Baldur’s Gate 3, these follow-ups all looked at their predecessor, identified the weaker aspects, and directly addressed those issues.

The best weapons in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
A soldier standing in an armory.

To the layman, every gun in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 probably seems the same. They all shoot bullets, right? In reality, that couldn't be further from the truth. Even when you take player skill out of the equation, each gun has vastly different stats and applications that make some, even within their own category, just plain better choices for everyone. Each gun is broken down into various stats, including recoil, ADS speed, damage, and much more, which makes it hard to easily compare them. When you factor in just how many guns are available as you level up and keep unlocking more, the prospect of picking the best ones becomes overwhelming. If you're trying to build the ideal loadout to dominate the current meta, these are the best weapons in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 for each weapon type.

We will detail the top picks per each class, and then list the rest in terms of how they rank.
