PlayStation Spring Sale: best deals, how long is the sale, and more

With the rise of all-digital consoles, more and more people are doing a majority of their game shopping on digital storefronts. For PlayStation 5 owners, whether you have a disk drive or not, you more than likely have at least a couple of games purchased from the PlayStation Store. The convenience of simply downloading a game and not having to worry about the disk is great, but you also can catch some amazing deals. The biggest sales events come seasonally, and the current Spring Sale is offering deep discounts of up to 90% on some of the biggest games on the platform. If you’ve been waiting to pick up one of the great games you missed earlier this year or in years past, now might be the best time to snag it for cheap!

When is the PlayStation Spring Sale 2024?

The PlayStation Spring Sale started on March 27, 2024, but new deals were added on April 10 that will last until April 24.

If any deal is exclusively for a PS5 version of a game that is also on PS4, we will note that beside the title. Since all PS4 games run on PS5, we won’t mark PS4 games.

Doom: The Dark Ages launches next year, and Xbox is bringing it to PS5
Doom: The Dark Ages Doomslayer

During the June 2024 Xbox Games Showcase, Microsoft revealed Doom: The Dark Ages. It's a medieval take on the first-person shooter series that's typically set during contemporary times. It's set to launch in 2025 for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5. The game will also launch on Xbox Game Pass.

Doom: The Dark Ages is a prequel, with the Doomslayer donning animal fur and spikes on his shoulder-blade armor. With his trusty and classic shotgun, he's ready to take down demons. However, he now has a new shield with blades that he can rev up like a chainsaw. The trailer shows the Doomslayer even throwing his shield at them like Captain America. He will also be able to ride a dragon at some point in the game, highlighting the fantasy elements of the game.

You’ll be able to play Phantom Blade Zero multiple times this summer
Phantom Blade Zero protagonist Soul

During Summer Game Fest 2024, developer S-Game showed off a new gameplay trailer for Phantom Blade Zero, an upcoming action-RPG. A release date wasn't revealed, but the game will be playable at certain upcoming events.

One aspect to note is that the gameplay trailer was all captured in-game, so what was shown is accurate to what the game will look like when playing it. Phantom Blade Zero appears to be a Soulslike game with an emphasis on parrying, similar to games like Rise of the Ronin and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Its monster design and gray color palette tones are reminiscent of Bloodborne.

Concord: release date, trailers, gameplay, and more
Two characters face off in Concord.

When PlayStation announced it was embracing the live-service model for future first-party titles, Concord was one of the first games we saw. PlayStation previously had a strong multiplayer presence, but around the time of the PS4 generation, the focus shifted almost entirely to big-budget single-player experiences. Some fans are a little hesitant about the quality of these upcoming games, and Concord will be the first one at bat, so it has a lot to prove. Now that we've seen the game in action and have a better grasp of what it will be, let's jump into the colorful world of Concord to see what it's all about.
Release date

As revealed during PlayStation's May 2024 State of Play, Concord is coming this fall on August 23, 2024. There will also be a beta test before the full release sometime in July, but no specific date was given.
Platforms
Concord is coming from a Sony first-party studio so it will be a PS5 console exclusive. However, in line with Sony's new PC strategy, Concord will also launch on PC at the same time as the PS5. Be aware that PC players will be required to have a PSN account in order to play Concord.
