Pole Position: Remix Comes to iPhone, iPod

Rounding out the growing selection of racing titles for the iPhone, Namco on Tuesday released Pole Position: Remix for both the iPhone and iPod, an update on the classic 1982 arcade game. Like the original, the new title offers players Formula-One-style racing with 3D tracks, hazards, and computer opponents.

Besides leveraging the iPhone and iPod’s internal accelerometers for tilt-to-turn style steering, players can also touch an on-screen wheel to steer, or even use finger sliding with a tap-to-brake option for power slides. Deviating from the original, Remix will also offer a new track called Mikasi Point, new game modes, and themed graphics. Doing well in your racing will unlock other Namco games, including Pac-Man, Galaga, and Dig-Dug.

Pole Position: Remix is available immediately for download from Apple’s AppStore, where it sells for $5.
