GLaDOS, the endearingly insane antagonistic from the original Portal returns in one of the most eagerly anticipated titles of the year. Fueling the fires for Portal 2 is the fact that the first game was little more than an expansion for Half Life 2. Once the game exploded and became a franchise in its own right, the hype for a full length game has been intense, and developer Valve is promising a single player and co-op campaign that will take at least twice as long as the original game.
Portal 2 takes place several hundred years after the events of the first game when the AI GLaDOS was seemingly destroyed. The game once again takes place in Aperture Science Labs, but the years have not been kind to the facility, and nature has overrun the Labs.
The game will also feature a two-player co-op mode that will introduce two new robotic characters, who are featured in the trailer below, that debuted this weekend at the VGAs. Neither character will feature a voice, but both will be able to communicate verbally through certain sounds in a manner similar to the movie, Wall-E.
Portal 2 will be released on PC, Mac, PS3 and Xbox 360 on April 20, 2011.
