Release speculation

Project Century was announced with no release date or even a release window. All we know is that the footage we’ve seen so far is pre-alpha, which means it is very early on in development. That said, RGG is a notoriously fast developer, so this could possibly be a 2026 game, but it could just as easily arrive in 2027.

Project Century World Premiere Trailer from The Game Awards 2024

The World Premiere trailer for Project Century debuted during The Game Awards 2024. This short tease introduces us to the setting of the game, which will be 1915 Japan, though we don’t know specifically where. We meet our mysterious protagonist and see him explore the cramped and dirty city. Besides that, the trailer is all action and no plot, so we will have to wait for more details on what this game will really be about.

Gameplay

While very early, we do have a lot of gameplay from Project Century to look at. First, this will be an action game like the old Yakuza or Judgment games instead of turn-based. Our protagonist can fight with his hands or multiple weapons, and use the environment to his advantage. Blocking, dodging, parrying, and grabs are all par for the course, but what makes Project Century unique compared to the studio’s past games is the amount of gore. Blood spews out of every brutal hit with a weapon in a way we’ve never seen in one of these games.

Preorder

Project Century is still technically just a code name for this title, so we’re not even close to being able to preorder it. As soon as we know anything about that, we will update this article.

The Witcher 4: everything we know so far
A talisman depicting a dog with glowing red eyes lays in the snow.

When talking about the best RPGs you can play right now, The Witcher 3 is going to be brought up. In fact, odds are that it will even appear in most people's best games of all time list, and for good reason. Inspired by the book series of the same name, the first Witcher game is one of the best PC games, and has now become a household name thanks to the success of the Netflix show. However, after the third game, CD Project Red moved on to Cyberpunk 2077 and we were left wondering if we'd tossed our last coin to the Witcher.

It seems there are still more stories to tell in The Witcher universe, with multiple upcoming video game projects in the works. The most interesting, of course, is the next step in the story, which we're currently calling The Witcher 4. We've taken our potions, oiled up our blades, and are ready to hunt down all the information we know so far about this highly anticipated upcoming game.

Everything we know about Kingdom Hearts: Missing Link
A buynch of keyblade wielders fighting a giant heartless.

Even though it's a tired joke, there's no denying that the Kingdom Hearts series has a lot of spinoff and side games. While the mainline numbered titles only reach Kingdom Hearts 3, though Kingdom Hearts 4 is now in the works, there are actually about 10 titles released across various platforms over the series' 20-year history. All those games were part of the original Seeker of Darkness arc, which came to a final conclusion with Kingdom Hearts 3 in 2019. But, as the DLC and secret ending made clear, that wasn't the end for the series. While we were left with some ideas, we didn't know where the series would go until the announcements made at the 20th-anniversary event in 2022.

This event took the Kingdom Hearts community by surprise in terms of the sheer amount of things shown off. The star of the show was undoubtedly the reveal of a Kingdom Hearts 4, but right before that was another title that shouldn't be overlooked. Kingdom Hearts: Missing Link is another of the spinoff games, but by now, anyone who follows the series should know that there really aren't spinoff games in terms of story and lore importance. If it's been a while since you've summoned your Keyblade and took a deep dive into the heart of this classic series, complicated plot and all, we'll guide you through everything we know so far about Kingdom Hearts: Missing Link.

Everything we know about The DioField Chronicle
Two groups of soldiers meeting on a bridge.

Square Enix has long since been the master of the JRPG. Even if you only look at Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest, it owns and creates the biggest RPG franchises in the industry -- but that's just the tip of the iceberg. Sure, it could easily rely on those big names for all their future games, but it continues to surprise us with new franchises and IP.

The DioField Chronicle, for example, was a surprise announcement that could have easily fit right in as the next entry in the Final Fantasy Tactics series, but instead is carving its own path. While many people do want the big Final Fantasy Tactics name, this new tactics title looks like it checks all the right boxes for fans.
