How to adjust the PS5’s beep sound

While it can be nice to have some feedback when doing things with your PlayStation 5, one little sound can be irritating to some folks: the beep that plays every time you turn your console off and on. Luckily, if you'd like to reduce the volume of this beep, or even turn it off altogether, Sony has added the ability for you to do that. Below, we'll tell you how to access the settings to make it happen.

How to mute the PS5 beep sound

When you're ready to mute the beep sound on your PS5 system, follow these instructions.

Step 1: Go to Settings by clicking the gear in the upper-right corner of the PS5 home screen.

Step 2: Scroll down and select System.

Step 3: Click Beep and Light.

Step 4: Here, you can select Volume to adjust the volume of the beep between High (Standard), Medium, or Low, or you can mute it altogether by clicking Mute Beep Sound.

Two characters face off in Concord.

PlayStation revealed a new cinematic trailer for its live-service sci-fi game Concord during the May 2024 State of Play presentation. Firewalk Studios also showed off gameplay featuring five of its characters. It also got a fresh release date of August 23 for the PS5 and PC; a beta will also be hosted in July.

Concord is a 5vs5 shooter taking place in the Concord galaxy. Players assume the role of a mercenary-type figure called a Freerunner and are part of an an intergalactic spacefaring crew called Northstar. The five characters unveiled are Vale, a woman with a knack for snipers; Haymar, a woman who can shoot fireballs; the blue brute Star Child; the mohawk-sporting Lennox; and the robot 1-Off. At launch, there will be 16 characters to choose from. The game will also have free post-launch updates that will add more characters, maps, vignettes, and more.

PlayStation's Until Dawn remake will launch this fall for PlayStation 5 and PC. The news was revealed on today's Sony State of Play stream, which featured a new trailer for the project that showed off its modernized visuals created in Unreal Engine 5.

Until Dawn is a PlayStation 4 horror game from developer Supermassive Games, the team behind recent titles like The Quarry. Released in 2015, it kick-started the studio's "interactive horror" style, which puts players at the center of a playable slasher film. A remake was announced in January with a 2024 release window. Now, we roughly know when to expect it, though we don't have an exact release date.

Astro Bot climbs on a DualSense controller

Sony's second State of Play presentation of the year just took place. It gave us a clearer look at what we can expect from PlayStation 5 and PlayStation VR2's video game lineup throughout the back half of 2024. That includes first-party games like Until Dawn's remake, Concord, and Astro Bot. Some impressive third-party titles like Dynasty Warriors Origins, Ballard of Antara, and Monster Hunter Wilds also showed up but had 2025 release windows.
