Razer might be a dominating online presence around the world for gamers, but its real-world outlets are few and far between. In fact, only two exist — in Manila, Philippines, and Bangkok. But not for much longer. as of this weekend, there will be one in the U.S., too, following the grand opening of a San Francisco location.
Located in the Westfield San Francisco Centre, the first American Razer outlet is considered a concept store, so, as a result, it will boast some exciting additions compared to existing Razer locations.
It will pack 20 full-size gaming stations into the 1,300-square-foot space, combining desktop PCs, with laptops and a giant, 16-feet-by-9-feet display, as well as streaming content from all different systems and online. There will also be a few console stations to showcase the abilities of Razer’s aftermarket peripherals.
Oddly enough, while Razer searched far and wide before deciding on the best place to launch its first U.S. store, it eventually settled on a place not that far from its headquarters — which is also found in San Francisco. It’s located at street level to maximize foot traffic and encourage passers-by to come and see what high-end gaming is like.
“San Francisco is a unique global epicenter of creativity, technology, and entertainment, and it’s our hometown, so creating a phenomenal environment for gamers here was a very special endeavor,” says Min-Liang Tan, Razer co-founder and CEO.
To celebrate the launch of the new store, Razer is also planning special events this weekend. There will be giveaways, with Razer swag like T-shirts, “L33t packs” containing stickers and lanyards, and for some select winners, free Razer gaming mice, keyboards and headsets.
The store opens up for the first time at 10 a.m. PDT Saturday. Make sure you’re there if you want to take advantage of all of the promotional giveaways and other goodies.
