Razer Teams with Blizzard on StarCraft-Themed Accessories

Razer Teams with Blizzard on StarCraft-Themed Accessories

Blizzard’s much-anticipated sequel to StarCraft may still be stamped with the company’s vague “when it’s done” release date, but that hasn’t stopped promotions for the new gear from kicking into high gear. On Tuesday, famed mouse-maker Razer announced that it would roll out a new line of StarCraft-branded peripherals especially for the game.

The company plans to release a mouse, keyboard and headset both inspired by StarCraft II, and designed especially to be used with the game. It will also market a StarCraft II messenger bag, backpack, and gamer case.

“The project is in the development phase with a focus on serving up innovative features while offering precision, cutting-edge technology, accuracy, speed and comfort,” said Razer president Robert Krakoff, in a press release. According to Razer, that will include exclusive and unique features catering to the StarCraft community (a Zerg-rush button, perhaps?).

Razer’s messenger back will be showcased at the upcoming BlizzCon gaming convention in Anaheim, but in the true spirit of StarCraft II, firm release dates have not yet been announced.

"There are worlds in some of our older Assassin's Creed games that are still extremely rich."

Surfaced patent shows what an Xbox streaming console would’ve looked like
An Xbox Series X sits next to both Series S models.

There have been a few Xbox devices that have never come to fruition, one of which was Keystone, a prototype for an affordable game streaming device you could hook up to your TV or monitor. Thanks to a surfaced patent, we've gotten an even closer look at what it would've potentially looked like.

The patent, first spotted by Windows Central, gives us a more complete view of the device. We've previously seen the Keystone in the flesh. Microsoft Gaming head Phil Spencer is known for hiding teases and interesting collectibles on the shelf in his office. In a 2022 X (formerly Twitter) post congratulating Bethesda on Fallout's 25th anniversary, you can see a small white device on the top shelf that's actually a Keystone prototype. Xbox told Digital Trends that it was a version of the device made before it decided to "refocus our efforts on a new approach.”
