Possible Resident Evil Village release window leaked in Capcom ransomware attack

Capcom has been hit by a massive ransomware attack that leaked many of the company’s 2021 plans. Among the data leaked by hackers is the potential release window for Resident Evil Village, Monster Hunter Rise, and more.

The biggest detail from the hacked information is that Resident Evil Village is slated for an April 2021 release. A Resident Evil multiplayer battle royale game appears to be in the works as well, according to the leaks.

Several details about upcoming Monster Hunter games appear in the data. The leaks state that Monster Hunter Rise will get a PC release in October 2021 following its March release on Nintendo Switch. Monster Hunter Stories 2 is allegedly scheduled for October 2021 on Switch, with a PC release planned as well.

The leaks says that two Phoenix Wright spinoff games, Great Ace Attorney and Great Ace Attorney 2, are coming to the West for the first time, with a July release date planned.

Capcom confirmed that it washit with a ransomware attack on November 2. The studio notes that 350,000 items were compromised in the attack, including personal data. The company says that it will contact individuals who were effected by the data breach as it continues to investigate the incident.

The company did not confirm whether or not the release dates mentioned are accurate. A ResetEra post about the attack notes that some of the stolen data is from 2018, so the leaks may contain outdated information. Resident Evil Village is slated to release sometime in 2021, so an April launch window is within the realm of possibility.

Resident Evil 4 shows that a remake doesn’t need to be completely faithful

Back when Capcom announced its Resident Evil 2 remake, I was ecstatic. This was a game I had missed when it first came out, and it was an important part of a series I had grown to love. However, its outdated gameplay meant it was close to impossible to go back comfortably, and its age meant it was tough to play legally.
