‘Resident Evil 7’ will feature cross-save support on Xbox One and PC

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard is shaping up to be one of the most terrifying games of the generation, and it appears that whether you’re in your living room or on the go, you’ll still be able to loosen up your bowels thanks to Xbox One-PC cross-save support.

The game’s cross-save feature, which will allow players to save the game on Xbox One and continue playing on PC (and vice versa) was confirmed by Capcom to IGN shortly after the feature was reported by Japanese site Dengeki.

The feature would give Resident Evil 7 on Xbox One significantly more attention. The game was initially revealed on stage at PlayStation’s E3 conference and features timed VR exclusivity with PlayStation VR, not to mention the franchise’s legacy of appearing on PlayStation platforms. Capcom’s most recent major release, Street Fighter V, released on PlayStation 4 and PC earlier this year, skipping the Xbox One completely — it featured cross-platform play between the two platforms.

Though cross-save support between the two platforms is more convenient than before, it isn’t clear if Resident Evil 7 will be a part of the Xbox Play Anywhere program. Currently featuring 13 games, of which three are already available, Xbox Play Anywhere gives digital purchasers copies of both the Xbox One and PC versions of games, allowing them to play them on the go or at home without losing progress. Some of the games, including Gears of War 4, also support limited Xbox One to PC cross-play. In the aforementioned game, the campaign mode is playable between PC and Xbox One cooperatively.

Resident Evil 7 is out for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One on January 24, 2017. Its first-person perspective and emphasis on atmospheric horror is a major change from the negatively received Resident Evil 6, which took a more action-oriented approach and featured many of the series’ most popular characters in starring roles.

Xbox revealed a new batch of library additions coming to its Game Pass service. The list includes some heavy hitters in Resident Evil 3 and Madden 24, as well as some indie hidden gems.

Xbox Game Pass, Microsoft's subscription service that gives players access to select games for a monthly fee, will add eight new games in the first half of February. The rollout will start today with Anuchard and continue until February 20 with the sci-fi title Return to Grace.

You can play as Resident Evil 4’s Leon Kennedy in Tekken 8 … sort of

Tekken 8 has only been out for a few days, but folks on the internet have already found a way to make some incredibly convincing recreations of some of their favorite characters from other properties. Perhaps one of the most impressive seen so far is a version of Leon Kennedy that closely resembles his appearance in the recent Resident Evil 4 remake, giving players an opportunity to enter the King of Iron Fist Tournament as a zombie-slaying brawler ... well, sort of.

As shown by YouTube creator Dan Allen Gaming, it's entirely possible to replicate Leon Kennedy's look to quite a shocking level using Tekken 8's detailed character customization features. Everything from his iconic leather bomber jacket to his quintessential '90s haircut is nailed perfectly here by using popular fighter Lars as a base for the customization due to his similarity to Leon in frame and stature.

Xbox Game Pass might not be losing a lot of games at the end of January, but the most significant loss is a big one. On January 31, the subscription service is losing Hitman: World of Assassination, which is one of the best stealth gaming experiences out there. Technically, it is a collection of three games’ worth of content, plus an excellent roguelike mode.

Few games can make you feel as clever or as idiotic as IO Interactive’s Hitman games, so World of Assassination is a must-play if you enjoy stealth gameplay and want to see those mechanics explored to their fullest. While the base games are short enough to blaze through in a few sittings, there's way more content here than you could reasonably get through in a week. You better get cracking if you want to try it without paying for the full package.
