Retailer Lets Slip a 2010 Release for the PSP2?

Now, this should be taken with a grain of salt; in fact, maybe a grain is too light. This should be taken with a rock of salt. The website Siliconera happened upon the upcoming catalog for the Japanese retailer GeoNet, and saw the listing for what it labelled as the  PSP-4000, which has been the long suspected retail name of the PSP2. Normally this could easily be written off as an error, or perhaps just a change of the code used for the product; it could even be an updated version of the PSP. Or, it could be the oft-rumored PSP2 that is expected to debut later this year at Gamescon or the Tokyo Game Show. Of course, the PSP2 was incorrectly rumored to debut at E3.

Again, it could be a mistake, or it could be an updated PSP, but the name “PSP-4000” has been floating around as the retail name of the PSP2 since 2008. Rumors of the PSP2 are nothing new, but if it does mean that the PSP2 will be released this year, it somewhat contradicts the increased effort that Sony is investing into the PSP. At E3, Sony made a big deal about the future of the PSP, boasting that over 70 titles would be coming out this year alone, as well as a new advertising campaign.

Until we know more, file this under rumor. But for those eagerly awaiting the PSP2, you might not have much longer to wait.

Death Stranding 2: release date speculation, trailers, gameplay, and more
Sam Bridges walks on a ridge in front of the moon.

There were plenty of hints along the way, and even some leaks by the leading man himself, but it was only made official at the Game Awards 2022 that Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is on its way. Coming from the same influential and creative mind as the original, as well as the Metal Gear franchise before it, Hideo Kojima introduced the game himself. Of course, nothing about Kojima's games are straight forward, and what was revealed about Death Stranding 2 probably raised more questions than it answered. We're strapping on our boots, connecting to our BBs, and are ready to make the trek to find out everything there is about Death Stranding 2.
Release date speculation

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach only has the wide release window of 2025.

Silent Hill 2 remake: release date, trailers, gameplay, and more
Pyramid Head walking in the rain.

Rumors about the Silent Hill 2 remake have faded into the fog, and it has become a reality. The classic title is considered by most to be one of the best horror games of all time, and now it is getting a complete remake. Unlike the disappointment that was the HD Collection, the game will be fully recreated from the ground up for modern hardware. Still, with such a beloved game and Konami's troubling track record in recent years, fans may have more concern than excitement about this announcement.

Aside from a new graphical overhaul, remakes can mean many different things. For Silent Hill 2, the question of exactly what will be -- and more importantly, won't be -- changed is on the minds of the dedicated fan base that holds the original in such high esteem. While Konami didn't fully clear the fog on what Silent Hill 2 will be this time around, we turned on our radios, checked every locked door, and managed to come out alive with everything you need to know about the Silent Hill 2 remake.

Bringing Helldivers 2 to Xbox eventually isn’t such a bad idea
Four soldiers walk in front of a blue Super Earth flag in the Helldivers 2 trailer.

It bugs Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer that Arrowhead Game Studios and Sony Interactive Entertainment's Helldivers 2 is not on Xbox. In a recent interview with Game File, Spencer stated that he's "not exactly sure who it helps in the industry by not being on Xbox," even though he understands that "there's a legacy in console gaming that we're going to benefit by shipping games and not putting them on other places."

That raises a good question: Should Helldivers 2 come to Xbox Series X/S? No plans for that are announced at this time. Although Spencer is likely saying Sony should do this because it would line up with Microsoft's current strategy, I don't think it would be such a bad idea once we're a ways out from this console exclusive's launch. At the very least, the wild success Helldivers 2 has seen on PC proves that PlayStation may benefit from eventually releasing more of its games on other platforms. The company already seems keenly aware of that, too.
