Rise of the Tomb Raider launch trailer shows off daring escapes and a familiar face

Rise of the Tomb Raider – “Make Your Mark” Launch Trailer
Halo 5: Guardians was just released this past Tuesday, but Microsoft’s other big Xbox-exclusive (at least through 2015), Rise of the Tomb Raider, will be out in less than two weeks. To celebrate, the game has received the traditional launch trailer, and it shows off plenty of tomb raiding and daring escapes, in addition to a familiar face.

“When I was young, it was just my father and I,” says Lara Croft, who doubles as narrator in this latest installment. “In his last years he was obsessed with myths about immortality.”

While most of the pre-release footage for the game has taken us to snowy Siberia, it appears that Croft will also be taking a trip to Syria to finish what her father started. It is there that she visits some of the tombs that the developers have shown off in behind-the-scenes videos.

The first game in the rebooted Tomb Raider series featured several impressive cinematic escapes from crumbling buildings and landscapes, and it appears that these are returning in Rise of the Tomb Raider. In one scene, Lara sprints out of a flooding building before taking cover behind a wall as water shoots past her.

Joined by Jonah, an ally from the original game, Lara makes her way to Siberia in search of “the divine source.”

Lara’s ice pick’s usefulness  is more apparent in the sequel than in the original, as she’ll be scaling plenty of frozen mountains, and her aerial attack on an unsuspecting enemy suggests she may have received some training from a certain Brotherhood …

Rise of the Tomb Raider launches on November 10 for both Xbox One and Xbox 36o, with a PC release following early next year. Though the game was touted as an Xbox exclusive at this year’s E3, the game will eventually be making its way to PlayStation 4.

Familiar faces return in the first trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home
Zendaya and Tom Holland in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Peter Parker has a big problem. In the mid-credits scene of Spider-Man: Far From Home, Mysterio got his revenge on Peter by exposing his double life as Spidey and framing him for murder. Due to that turn of events, the hero touted as "the next Iron Man" is suddenly public enemy number one. Now, after a great deal of anticipation, we finally have an advance look at Spider-Man: No Way Home. Perhaps in response to the rough cut of the trailer leaking over the weekend, Sony Pictures debuted the first trailer for No Way Home at CinemaCon last night.
