German gaming hardware manufacturer Roccat has revealed that its latest multiplatform over-ear headset will hit retail in December, delivering an all-in-one solution for gamers who previously needed to purchase multiple headsets for their consoles, PCs, and mobile devices.
Powered by a pair of large 50mm neodymium magnet driver speakers that promise “studio-grade sound,” the Roccat Cross gaming headset is built with comfort in mind, with prerelease specs positioingn the device as a lighter, more compact alternative to bulky gaming headsets.
The Cross includes multiple audio cables and dual microphones, allowing gamers to easily repurpose the device to suit their current platform of choice. PC and console gamers can attach an included boom-arm microphone to enable in-game chat, while mobile users can opt for an in-line mic suited for gaming on the go. Both mics attach to the unit’s left earcup via anti-tangle cables, ensuring a seamless transition between gaming platforms throughout the day.
Roccat notes that the Cross weighs in at 7 ounces, making it “more than 2 oz lighter than competing headsets in the same class.” Users can also expect a comfortable fit courtesy of the headset’s memory foam earpads, which “adapt uniquely to each wearer, [providing] a new level of comfort.”
“As gamers ourselves, Roccat understands that times have changed and gaming has evolved,” Roccat said. “Gaming has gone multi-platform and become ubiquitous. Gamers want a refined, fluid experience that they can enjoy everywhere rather than awkwardly swapping between expensive peripherals that are limited to a single device.”
Roccat continues: “That’s why we developed the Cross specifically for you, not your device. The Cross is the multiplatform over-ear stereo gaming headset that’s equally at home on your PC, Mac, PS4 and Xbox One, as it is when you’re on the go with your mobile device.”
The Roccat Cross will be available worldwide on December 8 at a suggested retail price of $70.
