Shogun 2: Total War trailer invites you to battle

Have you ever sat around and fantasized about how cool it would be to lead an army of samurai warriors in an effort to seize control of 16th century feudal Japan by adhering to the teaching of Sun Tzu? Sure, who hasn’t, and next month you will have your chance to live out that fantasy when Sega and developer The Creative Assembly release the next game in the Total War franchise, and the second Shogun title in the series, Shogun 2: Total War.

Moving away from the European battlefields featured in the previous game in the series, Napoleon: Total War, Shogun 2: Total War takes players to the divided country of 16th century feudal Japan during the aftermath of the historical Onin War, a 10 year long civil war that began a period called the Sengoku jidai or the “Warring States Period”, where several fractured kingdoms were ruled by warlords.

The game remains true to its turn-based, real-time strategy roots, and features sections where you either control the battles, or take time between the fighting to manage your kingdom.

Check out the trailer below, and look for Shogun 2: Total War on PC on March 15, 2011.
