How to change your appearance in Starfield

Key art for Starfield.

Some people love to spend hours in character creators, while others just want to get right into the game. Starfield doesn't have the most robust systems for modeling your character, but you can still spend a good chunk of time before even choosing your Background or Traits. Even if you do take your time, there's a good chance you will eventually get tired of looking at the same face after dozens or hundreds of hours and want something fresh. You'd never know it unless you stumbled upon it, but Starfield does allow you to alter your appearance after the opening. Here's how to do it.

How to change your appearance

You can change what your character looks like almost immediately after the intro in Starfield by visiting a specific location.

Step 1: Travel to New Atlantis.

Step 2: Go to the Commercial District.

Step 3: From the train station, go straight ahead past the Infinity Ltd. building on the left.

Step 4: The next building is the Enhance! shop with a big blue and yellow sign with a face on it.

Step 5: Go inside and talk to the receptionist and pay the 500 Credits to be taken back to the character creator screen, where you can completely reshape your character.

You can always come back here to change your character whenever you like, so long as you have the small fee of 500 Credits to spend.

Making proper use of all your best abilities in Avowed is the easiest of the tips and tricks you can take into the game. When you begin, you will have your healing and mana potions set on your quick select bar, followed by the first skill you unlock and first companion ability. That's great in the early game, but it isn't long before you unlock new skills that you want on that slot more than what is put there for you. You can always access all your abilities through the tactical menu, but that is a bit cumbersome. Instead, here's how you can remap your quick skills to whatever you want.

Discord gaming key art.

As it was the go-to voice and text-chat platform for gamers the world over, it was rather surprising how long it took Sony to add Discord integration for the PlayStation 5. Initially, there wasn't a native Discord app you could use on the console; however, an update made it far easier to chat with friends straight from your console while you're playing the best PS5 games.

Bethesda’s Todd Howard responds to Starfield paid mods controversy

Bethesda Game Studios director Todd Howard has addressed recent concerns about Starfield's paid mods, which echo long-standing issues between the company and its modding community.

This debacle began with the launch of the Creation Kit, which dropped on Steam following the Xbox Games Showcase last week. This allows people to make new additions to the game -- including Bethesda, which used it to market some new Trackers Alliance bounty-hunting missions. While the first one in the pack was offered for free, many fans expressed disappointment that the second mission was locked behind a $7 paywall in Creations.
