A global online beta test for Capcom’s upcoming one-on-one fighting game Street Fighter V is due to kick off in September, after the publisher wraps up regional testing.
Currently, Street Fighter V‘s beta is live in North and South America for pre-order customers. Beta participants in both regions can play the game this evening, August 25, starting at 4 PM Pacific and ending at midnight.
An additional round of testing in the Americas will occur tomorrow, September 26, from 4 PM Pacific to midnight. The ongoing North and South American beta test follows up on a recently concluded beta period in Europe, held on August 20 and August 21.
Capcom notes that the regional tests arrive in addition to promised global beta sessions, ensuring players in all regions at least five days’ worth of playtime.
“Once we have successfully completed each regional stress test, we will announce the dates and times of the official global beta test,” Capcom stated. “The global beta test will still take place for the previously promised 5 days of time, so the regional stress tests are just an added bonus.”
These split regional tests are a change in tactics from Capcom’s initial Street Fighter V beta strategy, which ended prematurely when the publisher’s online servers were overloaded, leaving many pre-order customers unable to access the game or start a match.
Capcom notes that the current round of beta testing should run more smoothly, and recommends that players use a wired internet connection with no background downloads for the best possible experience.
“Please note that although we anticipate these tests to run smoother than before, there may still be issues experienced by some users,” the publisher warns. “All data received during each of the stress tests will help us improve the online experience moving forward, and we appreciate your understanding and support.”
Street Fighter V will launch for the PlayStation 4 and PC platforms in 2016.
