The patch also tweaks various in-game moves and abilities for the sake of balance while unintentionally adding new character-specific exploits.
After installing the update, players will receive a new Mii character costume free of charge. The Gunner-specific costume transforms Mii characters into the laid-back singer-songwriter K.K. Slider from the Animal Crossing series, complete with a guitar that fires energy blasts.

Players also have the option of purchasing additional Mii costumes from the Wii U eShop. New costumes available with this week’s update include Bear (Gunner), King K. Rool (Brawler), Flying Man (Brawler), Chrom (Swordfighter), Black Knight (Swordfighter), Lloyd (Swordfighter), Samus (Gunner), along with a Super Smash Bros.-branded hoodie costume for all Mii classes.
Two new stages join the Super Smash Bros. roster this week. The “Peach’s Castle” and “Hyrule Castle” maps from the original Nintendo 64 version of Super Smash Bros. can be purchased from the Wii U and 3DS eShops for $2 apiece.
Nintendo offers all of this week’s add-on content in a bundle priced at $10 for either the Wii U or 3DS. A cross-platform bundle that adds all new content to both the 3DS and Wii U versions of Super Smash Bros. is up for grabs at $15.
Fans noted that this week’s patch also introduced a bug that gives the Mii Swordfighter character an infinite combo. Thus far, the exploit only seems to affect the newly released Lloyd costume. On-disc character Robin now has a similar exploit as well. These glitches will likely be removed in the next Super Smash Bros. patch, to be released at a later date.
The latest update also adds a new tournament mode, along with a YouTube upload feature for replays.
