Episode 3, titled “Catch a Ride,” introduces the new character Gortys, a robotic helper droid created by the Atlas corporation in a bid to discover the Vault’s riches. Gortys teams up with returning cast members Rhys and Fiona on a quest to obtain a Vault Key and earn Rhys a promotion from his employer Hyperion.
Tales from the Borderlands features characters and settings previously seen in Gearbox’s core Borderlands series, and recent developments introduced a holographic version of Borderlands 2 antagonist Handsome Jack. Gameplay takes place after the events of Borderlands and its sequel, continuing the franchise’s storyline leading up to the release of the next series entry.
Borderlands recently made its debut on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One with Borderlands: The Handsome Collection, an upgraded compilation of previous series entries Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. The Handsome Collection additionally bundles the many DLC add-ons and expansion packs that premiered for both games in the months after their initial release.
Telltale Games is known for its narrative-driven adventure games, previously producing two seasons of its critically acclaimed The Walking Dead series and spinoff games based on popular films like Back to the Future and Jurassic Park. Having recently wrapped up the five-episode adventure game The Wolf Among Us last year, the studio’s current projects include Tales from the Borderlands and a series based on the HBO television drama Game of Thrones.
Telltale was also named as the developer behind an in-progress Story Mode for Mojang’s indie hit Minecraft, which aims to flesh out the game’s open-world sandbox structure with new characters, storylines, and objectives.
Tales from the Borderlands‘ full season is available digitally via Steam, Xbox Live, and the PlayStation Network for $25.
