The Division Resurgence: release date speculation, news, and rumors

The Division Resurgence
Ubisoft

With news that The Division 3 is in development, it’s understandable that some fans of Ubisoft’s third-person shooter franchise may have overlooked an upcoming spinoff that’s set to launch sometime this year. The Division Resurgence is a free-to-play mobile entry in the series that will bring all of the same thrills and kills to a much smaller screen. While you’re waiting for this next outing (and all of the loot waiting within), take a look at what we know so far about The Division Resurgence.

Release date

Division Resurgence
Ubisoft

The Division Resurgence does not have an exact release date quite yet. The game has been delayed multiple times, but Ubisoft has stated that players can now expect to get their hands on it at some point in late 2024.

It’s likely we’ll at least get some type of news on the game and its current release window at Ubisoft Forward 2024 on June 10, but only time will tell.

Platforms

As it’s strictly a mobile game, The Division Resurgence will launch on iOS and Android. While it’s always possible that a mobile game will receive a PC or console port at some point, we wouldn’t recommend getting your hopes up. With The Division 3 set to be the next big drop in the franchise for those platforms, Ubisoft likely wouldn’t want such a similar title competing in that space.

Multiplayer

As expected, The Division Resurgence will feature both PVE and PVP multiplayer. There will be no shortage of loot for everyone to work toward together on missions, but that’s not all that is in store for fans. Unlike the previous two games, where the PvEvP area was open for players to enter and leave at will, The Division Resurgence‘s Dark Zone is session-based. This means you’ll have to queue up and enter the area with 19 other players to see who will extract with the best loot — and who will be left wanting.

Trailers

The Division Resurgence has received a few trailers showing off some of its gameplay and features. There are still a lot of unanswered questions, but the trailers have at least proven that the experience players are used to will be alive and well even in a mobile-only format.

The game’s first trailer showcased a brief glimpse at gameplay and a streamlined UI that should assist with the game’s mobile limitations.

Meanwhile, another trailer has given us a look at the Dark Zone in The Division Resurgence, an area of the map that most players will recognize as a location that blends tense PVE and PVP combat.

Preorder

Since The Division Resurgence is free to play, you don’t really need to preorder the game in the traditional sense. However, you can register for The Division Resurgence closed beta on the game’s official website.

For many fans of looter-shooters, it's hard to find a series quite as compelling as The Division. With two successful games in the franchise already under its belt, Ubisoft is clearly aware that it's a meaningful part of its ever-expanding catalog, so it's unsurprising that it's hard at work on a third entry. With the advent of newer hardware and a heap of lessons learned from the first two games, The Division 3 is all but certain to land with a bang and further cement the franchise as one of Ubisoft's most beloved.

We know The Division 3 is in development at Massive Entertainment with Julian Gerighty as the executive producer. Beyond that, though, not much has been shared about what to expect from the game yet. Even so, here's everything we know about The Division 3.
Release date
The Division 3 does not currently have a release date. And since the game hasn't even received any trailer yet, it's safe to assume we probably won't see it until at least 2025 — though stranger things have happened.

Delta emulator changes logo after Adobe lawsuit threats — but just barely
A collage of the delta emulator.

Delta is a popular iOS game emulator, but it ran into a small problem with its logo recently. The app developer claims that Adobe threatened legal action against it if it didn't change the logo, so it did -- by doing the bare minimum.

The latest update, 1.5.4, released on May 17, and the version history notes on the Apple App Store highlight the change. While the update also added a "revised context menu for games," the big thing is clearly the "new icon to avoid legal trouble."
