Polar offers plenty of great fitness trackers, and while the apps associated with those trackers have a lot to offer, some people simply prefer to go another route, especially if they’re training for a specific event. Well, now you’ll be able to use outside apps with your Polar device, thanks to the company’s new integration with TrainingPeaks.
If you have a TrainingPeaks account, you’ll now be able to sync your data from your Polar device straight to that account, allowing you to view your training sessions and reach your goals.
While Polar has its own software, TrainingPeaks’ is designed to really put users through their paces. What sets TrainingPeaks apart from other fitness-tracking programs is that it’s specifically targeted at helping people train for an endurance event. The program starts with a clear goal, then assesses progress to give feedback on how to best achieve that goal, even connecting you with personal coaches, whether it be for a running event, cycling event, or a triathlon. With Polar integration, your progress can be tracked through TrainingPeaks without the need to buy a new device.
“Using Polar Flow, athletes can plan, gain insight into, and receive feedback on their training,” said Marco Suvilaakso, global product director at Polar, in a statement. “Integrating with TrainingPeaks allows us to extend these services even further by offering yet another opportunity for athletes to use their training data to improve performance and meet their goals.”
To use your Polar device with TrainingPeaks, you’ll need to log in to your Polar Flow account, then go to Settings and click on the TrainingPeaks link. TrainingPeaks will then open up and, once you log in to your TrainingPeaks account, you’ll be able to authorize a connection between the two. Once that happens, anything tracked through your Polar device will be automatically synced with your TrainingPeaks account.
Integration with TrainingPeaks is compatible with the V800 sport watch, the M400 GPS running watch, and the M450 and V650 cycling computers.
