Acer Jumps Out with 3D Projectors

Acer America is jumping on the 3D content bandwagon, annnouncing two new projectors that support 3D imagery as well as more blasé two-dimensional content. The new Acer H5360 and Acer X1261 projectors incorporate Nvidia’s 3D Vision technology so users can convert any wall into an immersive 3D screen—so long as they have the appropriate eyewear, of course.

“The new Acer video projectors provide incredibly compelling and realistic 3D video and images that make customers feel like they are part of the experience,” said Acer America senior product marketing manager for peripherals Irene Chan, in a statement. “Of course, customers will thoroughly enjoy the superior visuals projected from these new models even while watching traditional 2D content.”

The H5360 offers a 1,280 by 720 resolution, 2500 ANSI lumens of brightness, and a 3200:1 contrast ratio, and a 50–120Hz refresh rate. The project has an HDMI port to support high-definition content, along with three RCA jacks, S-Video, component, 15-pin D-Sub, and a 2.5mm audio minijack for hooking up devices. Acer says the projector lamp should run 2,500 hours in standard mode and up to 4,000 hours in economy mode; it should be available at retailers now for a suggested price of $699.

Folks looking for something a little more budget-friendly can check out the Acer X2161, which Acer is aiming at schools and businesses as well as the home. It sports a native resolution of 1,024 by 768 pixels, 2500 ANSI lumens of brightness, a 3700:1 contrast ratio, and component, composite, S-video, mini-DIN, and stereo minijack inputs. The X1261 should be available now for a suggested price of $579.
