Altec Lansing made its contribution to the market for third-party Zune accessories on Monday with the announcement of its inMotion 414 Zune dock. Much like docks for the more-popular iPod, Altec’s Zune dock allows users to drop in their players and crank up the tunes without headphones.
Shaped like an extruded L, the iM414 accepts a Zune directly into its base, with a neodymium-driven speaker to either side of it. A small display on its face shows the time or lets users scroll through their favorite radio stations with the built-in FM tuner. It can be powered by either AC power or 3AA batteries, which Altec claims should offer 24 hours of play time. A full-function remote allows control of all of its functions from afar.
Altec has not yet announced when the iM414 will be available through its Web site and retailers, but it has announced the price of $99.95.
