B&W Adds Four New CM Series Loudspeakers

B&W Adds Four New CM Series LoudspeakersThe Brits over at Bowers & Wilkins have never been conservative with their designs. From zeppelin-shaped iPod docks to loudspeakers curled likeseashells, the company’s designers like to push limits. But its latest release at IFA 2008 actually turns back the clock with a more traditional look, albeit one still drenched in B&Wstyle.

B&W has added onto its popular CM Series loudspeakers with the CM9 three-way floorstanding speaker, CM5 two-way stand-mount speaker, CMC2 center speaker, and ASW 10CM subwoofer. All pick up a range of upgrades from their previous CM-series incarnations. The CM9 and CMC2 both get improved FST drivers with Kevlar cones, while the bass drivers in all units get longer voice coils and stronger magnets than the lower-priced 600 Series.

All CM Series speakers are available in Rosenut or Wenge veneer, as well as new optional polished gloss black exterior that B&W has added at no additional cost. The CM9 sells for $1,500, the CM5 for $750, the CMC2 for $1,250, and the ASW 10CM for $1,500.

PSB’s new SubSeries BP8 subwoofer pushes 500 watts of pure rumble
The PSB BP8 powered subwoofer agains the side of a couch.

Today, Canadian premium speaker manufacturers PSB announced its next generation of subwoofers, the SubSeries BP8 Powered Subwoofer, a compact but powerful 500-watt speaker with dual opposing drivers and acoustic neutrality that PSB says virtually eliminates unwanted noise. The $1,499 sub will be available in March.

The announcement comes ahead of Barcelona's big AV conference, Integrated Systems Europe (ISE), next week, where PSB will be showing off the BP8, which marks the first in a new line of subwoofers for the company and will go toe-to-toe with its current flagship SubSeries 450 and 350 woofers.

The Roku Pro Series television seen in a press image.

Streaming platform Roku today announced a trio of new Roku TVs that it hopes will elevate its standing in the smart TV market, which until now has mostly been in the affordable-but-not-outstanding range.

While technical specs are still sparse on the new 55-, 65-, and 75-inch televisions, we do have the obvious inclusion of 4K resolution and a mini-LED system to control the local dimming zones. This isn’t the first time Roku TVs have featured mini-LED tech — that stretches back to the 8-Series sets from 2019, as part of its partnership with TCL.
