The time for teasing is (mostly) over. After their announcement on April 30, the new Beats Solo Buds will be available starting June 18. The $79 earbuds round out the Beats Solo line, joining the recently released Beats Solo 4, and 2023’s Beats Studio Pro.

The Beats Solo Buds will be widely available in Matte Black, Storm Gray, and Transparent Red. There’s also an Arctic Purple color that’s exclusive to Apple and Target both online and in stores.

Beats says the “custom-built acoustic architecture packs big Beats sound in the smallest case we’ve ever made.” That doesn’t really speak much (at all) as to the sound quality, but Beats also said that “ergonomically designed acoustic nozzles and laser-cut vents improve audio performance while relieving pressure for added comfort.”

There’s only one way to find out, of course, and that will be when we actually get a pair into our ears.

When we do, though, we’ll be able to expect four sizes of ear tips to help them sit properly. There also will be passive noise isolation — not active noise cancellation — for “the ultimate listening experience.” Again, we’ll see. These are still relatively affordable buds, though they do land a little more expensive (and more on the stylish side) than the latest Amazon Echo Buds, which shave about $30 off the bill.

As with the other options in the Beats ecosystem, the Solo Buds support Apple’s Find My feature, as well as Google’s Find My Device. You’ll be able to customize some functions when you press the Beats “b” logo on the side.

Battery life is said to be about 18 hours of playback at 50% volume, and the buds charge via the case, which uses USB-C.

New $129 Moto Buds+ tap Bose for boom and Dolby for head tracking
The Moto Buds in Forest Gray.

Three new phones under the Edge 50 branding weren't enough for Motorola this week. The venerable manufacturer also dropped a pair of earbuds to go along with the new Android fare.

The main contenders for North America will be the Moto Buds+, which are available now for $129 in the U.S., and $179 in Canada. They look as you'd expect wireless earbuds to look; that's worth mentioning because Moto had some wood-clad phones in its drop this week. They're sleek and stylish and apparently available here only in Forest Gray, though press images show other colors, too. (More's the pity -- those other colors look slick.)

Samsung Galaxy Buds FE in graphite.

Samsung's new wireless earbuds -- the Galaxy Buds FE -- are just $100, a new low price for a set of Galaxy Buds. Samsung introduced the new earbuds alongside its other new FE devices, the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE and Galaxy Tab S9 FE. Available in white and graphite colors, you'll be able to buy them from Samsung.com and major retailers starting October 10.

Until today, Samsung's Galaxy wireless earbuds lineup consisted of the $150 Galaxy Buds Live, the $150 Galaxy Buds 2, and the flagship $230 Galaxy Buds 2 Pro. With the Galaxy Buds FE, you can now get a set of Samsung buds with desirable features like active noise cancellation (ANC) and transparency modes for less.

Beats partners with Emma Chamberlain to debut Studio Buds+ in pink and silver metallic
Beats Studio Buds+ in new metallic colors with matching hues from Olive and Junes.

When Beats launched the Studio Buds+ earlier this year, a lot of folks got pretty jazzed by the transparent color option for the noise-canceling wireless earbuds. Today, the Apple-owned audio brand has announced two new colors for the Studio Buds+: Cosmic Silver and Cosmic Pink, a pair of metallic finishes that are a departure from the more earth-toned colors that Beats has been using lately. Both colors will be available starting September 7 at apple.com and Apple stores, as well as at Target. Cosmic Silver will also be available on Amazon, or at Walmart and Best Buy.

The new colors are clearly aimed at buyers who place as much emphasis on fashion as they do on audio quality (OK, maybe a bit more emphasis on fashion), as evidenced by the two partnerships Beats has created for the launch of the cosmic metallic tones.
