JVC is launching its GR-D850 and GR-D870 MiniDV camcorders in the United States, bringing consumers a video recording option with a 2.7-inch LCD widescreen display designed to be viewable even in direct sunlight, along with a 35× optical zoom to make sure videos center on what’s important to users.

The D870 features Dual Recording and Live Slow features: the former enables users to snap still photos while shooting video, while the latter combines slow motion effects with live audio to offer a neat way to record fast action or sports. Both cameras feature a stick control for navigating menus and options with one finger, and a dedicated Auto button switches quickly between Auto and Manual shooting modes. In addition to the 35× optical zoom, digital zoom can offer a combined amplification of up to 800×—the results might be a little grainy, but users might be able to catch footage of their darling children scoring that all-important goal in the neighborhood soccer game without running out into the field themselves. For low-light shooting, both cameras offer a built-in Auto Illumi-Light LED emitter.

Both cameras should be available now, with the D850 carrying a suggested price of $229.95, while the D870 will go for about $249.95.

JBL confirms U.S. pricing, release dates for new Tour One M2 and Tour Pro 2
JBL Tour One M2.

JBL has formally debuted its new Tour One M2 wireless headphones and Tour Pro 2 wireless earbuds at CES 2023. The new flagship personal audio products get a series of welcome improvements like JBL's version of spatial audio, support for simultaneous Bluetooth connections, and compatibility with the latest wireless audio standard, Bluetooth LE Audio. They also get better battery life and the Tour Pro 2 feature an innovative charging case with a built-in touchscreen.

Technically speaking, JBL debuted these new products in 2022, but at the time, the company was only willing to discuss them in the context of the European Union and Asia markets. CES 2023 marks the official planned availability for the Tour One M2 and Tour Pro 2 in North America: spring 2023, with pricing set at $300 for the One M2, and $250 for the Pro 2.

First non-Samsung Tizen OS TVs are here, but not in the U.S.
samsung s95b oled tv review qn65s95b tizen interface

Samsung today announced that it's going to license its implementation of Tizen OS — which was itself born from the Linux Foundation in 2012 — to a number of television manufacturers starting this year. That's hardly an aberration, of course. Roku and Amazon Fire TV each license their operating systems to various manufacturers (and Amazon just started making its own branded TVs in the Omni series), and LG's webOS has gotten into the game, too. You also can find Google TV on a number of sets.

But don't look for the Tizen OS on any familiar TVs in the United States anytime soon. The first brands to get Tizen are Akai, Bauhn, and Linsar — all found in Australia — and are available now. Other TVs from the likes of RCA, Vispera, and Axen will hit Italy, New Zealand, Spain, Turkey, and the United Kingdom later this year.
